The successes of D&E, are quite impressive, including the delivery of more than 900 seminars that attracted over 5000 potential homeowners, yielding 66% new homeowners; the opening of 800 new checking accounts to individuals who could not qualify for mainstream checking accounts; and transitioning more than 400 TANF recipients from “welfare to workfare” as a result of the D&E Professional Training Program. Additionally, through the development and delivery of “Your ‘Credit-Ability’ is Your Credibility,” more than 800 college and high school students now understand the responsibility, accountability, and the importance of credit and its role in every life situation.

 

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Harris received a B.S. in Journalism from Georgia State University and completed studies with the Georgia Bankers Association (University of Georgia/Compliance School). Additionally, she holds several well-noted local and national training certifications with NeighborWorks® America; Federal Home Loan Corporation (Freddie Mac) Federal National Mortgage Corporation (Fannie Mae); Housing Urban Development (HUD); Georgia Dept. of Community Affairs (DCA); Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC); Consumer Credit Counseling Services, National Training Society, MGIC and Toastmasters. She is a founding member of Emmanuel Tabernacle Baptist Church, Atlanta Georgia.

Major Accomplishments

Carrie T. Harris, a longtime banking professional, is widely recognized throughout Georgia and the nation for her many efforts and accomplishments in the areas of community outreach and education, The American Bankers Association and General Electric Capital Mortgage Corporation nationally recognized her for the development and implementation of an extraordinary community outreach-training program, “The Community Homebuyer Education and The RightStart™ Consumer Education and Mortgage Program. “ 

Banking and financial specialist, Harris has devoted over 25 years to developing education and training modules to help low and moderate-income citizens. From 1974 to 1999, Harris held several positions with SouthTrust Corporation, a 51 billion dollar bank (located in 9 states), ending her career as Vice President (Community Reinvestment Act) of SouthTrust Bank and Corporate Outreach Director for SouthTrust Corporation.

 

 

Stepping into her divine purpose, Mrs. Harris launched D&E, The Power Group (c/k/a The D&E Group) in the year 2000, as its President and CEO. Operating two divisions under its corporate umbrella, D&E, A Financial Education & Training Institute, Inc. is a HUD Approved Housing Counseling Agency and D&E, The Consulting Group an S-Corporation to form D&E, The Power Group. The mission of The D&E Group develops and empowers citizens to transform their lives financially, personally and professionally through outreach and education, serving to yield economic empowerment. Similarly, the company’s’ primary goal is to teach consumers the "how-to’s" of financial literacy, credit rehabilitation, gain access to bank products and services, affordable housing, foreclosure intervention and prevention; job skills training, as well as other community service programs delivered through individual and group training sessions.
